SPECTEXT® ANNOUNCES MasterFormat™04 IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 1, 2005
Baltimore, Maryland – The Construction Sciences Research Foundation, Inc. (CSRF) developers of SPECTEXT® Master Guide Specifications officially announced its schedule for inclusion of the MasterFormat™04 Section numbering system in all of its SPECTEXT® Libraries. MasterFormat™04 is a major revision over previous editions of the numbering format and introduces numerous new Divisions and relocates and renames many Sections accordingly.
Beginning with the Summer 2005 Edition of SPECTEXT® Master Guide Specifications, subscribers will have the option of writing specifications utilizing either the familiar MasterFormat™95 numbering system or the newly introduced MasterFormat™04 numbering system, which is currently being adopted industry-wide. This capability will be provided to the subscriber at no extra cost. Additionally, software will be available to assist the subscriber who desires to completely convert his existing in-house master from the current five-digit MasterFormat™95 to the new six-digit MasterFormat™04.
SPECTEXT® provides an accepted industry standard framework for writing technically superior specifications and is the only commercially available system that follows the standard formats – MasterFormat™, SectionFormat™, PageFormat™ and CSI Manual of Practice – recommended by the Construction Specifications Institute.
SPECTEXT® is written, reviewed and maintained by nationally recognized, practicing engineering and architectural specification writers who collectively represent several hundred years’ experience in preparing actual project specifications for a wide variety of projects going out to bid on a daily basis.

CSRF INTRODUCES SPECTEXT® TRENCHLESS CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 3, 2003
Baltimore, MD - The Construction Sciences Research Foundation, Inc. (CSRF) announced the expansion of the SPECTEXT® Master Guide Specification Library by the addition of new specifications on state-of-the-art trenchless construction techniques.
New SPECTEXT® horizontal directional drilling and microtunneling specifications offer engineers, contractors, sewer and water districts, and public authorities more efficient, safer and cost effective alternatives to traditional trenching and tunneling methods.
Horizontal directional drilling, pipejacking and microtunneling technology provides more productive installation methods with several distinct advantages. Underground pipe repair, replacement and renovation, conduit installation, and sewer installation and renovation are some of the construction situations in which these technologies will provide increased efficiency, safety, environmental and financial benefits.
Advantages of utilizing trenchless construction techniques include:
- worker safety,
- increased productivity,
- ability to work in a wide range of ground conditions as well as below the water table line,
- ability to work in environmentally sensitive or socially, commercially or industrially congested areas,
- reduced soil haul away and disposal,
- reduced operational disruption for existing structures, highways, railroads, and
- reduced street cutting, patching and repaving.
CSRF is a not-for-profit construction research foundation, founded by the Construction Specifications Institute in 1967 to solve construction information communications problems in the A/E/C industry.
CSRF publishes EDITSPEC® Section-Editing Tools and the SPECTEXT®, SPECTEXT® II, OUTLINE Master Guide Specification Libraries for architectural, structural, site, civil, environmental, mechanical and electrical construction projects covering CSI MasterFormat™ Divisions 1 - 16. CSRF INTRODUCES NEW SPECTEXT® ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March, 2002
Baltimore, Maryland – The Construction Sciences Research Foundation, Inc. (CSRF) has expanded its engineering specification offerings by introducing a new SPECTEXT® Environmental Engineering Specification. The first of several specifications packages to be offered in this new group is a specification addressing water, wastewater and other sanitary projects.
