History of SpecText
The history of SpecText is directly tied to the history of specification systems.
1967 Stanford Report published and Construction Sciences Research Foundation (CSRF) formed by CSI as a direct result of the findings
1971 "Creating a Common Language" published by CSRF, and SpecText created as a subset of COMSPEC a computer-assisted specifications program
1978 SpecText developed and made available to subscribers
1987 SpecText II released
1996 National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) contracted as the exclusive developer and marketer of the electronic version of SpecText.
1998 SpecText marketing and support assumed by the CSRF SpecText Support Center and Conspectus contracted as the technical developer of SpecText
2011 SpecText acquired by ARCOM
